Brief History; Blantyre International University BIU) was established in 2008 to provide high quality university education for this century. This is predicated on its belief that education must be life-long – that education is not a spatial monopoly of something called the school and college; not a time-bound learning experience; there is no such thing as childhood education, adolescent education, youth education, or adult education.

Our affordable all-inclusive tuition fee means you pay just one price for any of our bachelors degree programme, including your library access, course materials, examination fees, technology and personal support are all covered in your tuition. You can also break your payments down into four consecutive monthly instalments over the semester.
We understand that some of you might have extensive work experience and be looking to get ahead in your career, but may not hold a relevant bachelors degree. That’s why we recognise prior work experience in place of a secondary school leaving certificate as an alternative route to admission.

Through our exemptions policy we are also inviting applications for second-year and third-year intakes for the above degree programmes. Our exemptions policy is as follows:
- Three-year diploma holders: Entry into third year, first semester
- Two-year diploma holders: Entry into second year, first semester
- Less than two-year diploma holders: No exemption, entry into first year, first semester
Application Fee: MWK3,000.00 (non-refundable). Deposit this in any of the University’s bank accounts and send a copy of the original deposit slip together with your application letter to the University:

Entry Requirements
MSCE/GCSE/Equivalent: Full Certificate with at least six credits including English/ or one A-Level/IB or Mature Entry with Work or Business Experience of at least three years for entry into first year.
Application Procedure
To apply, simply send us a letter enclosing a copy of the deposit slip for the MWK3,000.00 non-refundable application fee. In the letter give us information on the points or grades you obtained in your Malawi Certificate of Secondary School Education (MSCE) or General Certificate of Secondary School Education GCSE Examinations or equivalent examination. For mature entry basis into first year, give us information on your working experience. In all cases, send us copies of your certificates, examination result slips, or testimonials. Those with diplomas must enclose academic transcripts.
