Brief History; The Malawi University of Science and Technology is a public university in Thyolo in South Malawi. It was established on 17 December 2012. MUST opened doors in March 2014, the first undergraduate programmes were: 1. Metallurgy and Materials Engineering 2. Chemical Engineering 3. Biomedical Engineering

This is one of the Departments under Bingu School of Culture and Heritage. Currently it has no head and the Executive Dean, Dr Robert Chanunkha, is acting in that capacity. It is one of the three departments at MUST that are offering non-science programmes. The departments seeks to promote indigenous knowledge and the bedrock of of African culture and heritage. The belief is that indigenous knowledge is as relevant in our lives today as it was some decades ago. What we probabaly need to do is to adapt it to suit modern day requirements and demands.
