Brief History; The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources is a university outside Lilongwe, Malawi. It was formed in 2011 by a merger between Bunda College of Agriculture of the University of Malawi and Natural Resources College.

There are four language and communication skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. These four skills of language allow an individual to comprehend and produce spoken language for proper and effective interpersonal communication. Skills can be oral or written, and active or passive.

This department was established in 1993 to offer Language and Communication Skills courses to undergraduates. It has two sections; Development Communication (DC) and Agriculture Education. Through these sections, the department offers two undergraduate programs; BSc. Agriculture Education and BSc. Agricultural Development Communication. It also offers a Masters’ degree program; MSc. Agriculture Education. Currently, therefore, the department offers communication skills courses to all students and trains secondary school agriculture teachers.
