Brief History; Kamuzu College of Nursing has also been recognized as a leader in Nursing and Midwifery education that conforms to national and international standards of nursing and midwifery competence, outstanding faculties and departments with 6 Undergraduate, 8 Post Basic, 6 Masters and 3 Doctoral programmes and is affiliated with three other national colleges namely; Daeyang Luke College of Nursing, Malawi College of Health Sciences and Saint John of God College of Health Sciences.

The Faculty of Nursing offers a full range of undergraduate, masters, doctoral degree programmes and ensures that students gain the necessary qualifications and professional identity. For over 35 years, we have been passionate about educating and improving highly qualified nursing, midwifery, psychiatric and therapy specialists by providing the knowledge and professional skills and forming the system of attitudes and values, conduct research and participate in the creation and implementation of health policies and strategies
As one of the largest nursing faculties in the country, we provide many opportunities for students to gain valuable, hands-on experience both laboratory with state-of-the-art simulation experiences using high-fidelity mannequins as well as clinical experiences throughout the programs that will ensure they receive a well-rounded education founded both in academic theory and real-world application to meet the health needs of the country and global communities. We are part of a dynamic campus environment of discovery, creativity and engagement. Our programs prepare graduates to thrive and lead in these exciting times of complexity and change.
Through innovations in teaching approaches and through our programs of nursing research, leadership and health services management, the Faculty of Nursing at KCN transforms students into our next generation health care leaders and managers. We have diversified our programs such that unlike in the past whereby our focus was solely on nursing and midwifery, we currently also specialize in other programs like Child Health Nursing, Adult Health Nursing, Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Health Services Management and Leadership as well as Entrepreneurship which gives students a wider range of specializations and working fields including Non-Governmental Organisations once they complete a program.
The Faculty consists of four main academic departments: the Basic Studies department, the Medical-Surgical Department, Community and Mental Health department and Clinical Studies department. The devoted, diverse and professional teaching and research staff make a major contribution to knowledge, health policies and future practice.
