The Department of Mathematical Sciences is one of seven departments in the Faculty of Science. The department comprises of two sections, namely, Mathematics and Statistics.

PROGRAMMES OFFERED

• The Department offers a Bachelor of Science Degree with Majors in Mathematics and Majors in Statistics and as part of the Bachelor of Social Science in the faculty of Social Science and Bachelor of Education (Sciences) in the Faculty of Education.
• The Department also offers two Masters Programmes, namely, Master of Science in Biostatistics and Master of Science in Mathematical Sciences which attract students from SADC and beyond.

RESEARCH

The Department has active research programmes in Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Statistics. There are fortnightly seminars for Masters students, academic staff and visitors to the Department.
