Important Details Considered by University of Malawi UNIMA Online Application

ELIGIBILITY
The eligible applicants are as follows:
a) Candidates who completed the MSCE, IGCSE or O level equivalent in the past three years (2018, 2019 and
2020);
b) Candidates with an Advanced Subsidiary (AS) certificate or a National Senior Certificate (NSC) obtained in the
past three years (2018, 2019 and 2020);
c) Candidates who completed the Advanced Level, International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or A-Level equivalent
in the past three years (2018, 2019 and 2020).
NOTE: All those currently enrolled in public universities and those who were withdrawn on academic grounds are
NOT eligible to apply.

Minimum Entry Requirements for all applicants

Interested applicants should meet the following minimum requirements:

a)A Malawi School Certificate of Education or any equivalent O-Level qualification with at least 4 subjects passed with credit (6 subjects for some programmes) including ENGLISH LANGUAGE and other subjects specified in the table under point (d) below.

b)A University of Malawi Diploma or, a relevant Diploma from accredited programmes of the University of Malawi such as those offered at Domasi College of Education, Natural Resources College, Malawi College for Health Sciences, Theological College, St. John of God College or an equivalent Diploma from a recognized Institution of higher learning.

c)A minimum of 2 years post Diploma relevant work experience in a field related to the programme applied for.

d)Applicants MUST also meet the additional entry requirements for each programme as outlined in the table below:

 APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Application Form can be obtained on written request or in person from the address given below and it can also be downloaded from www.unima.mw. Duly completed application forms together with proof of payment of a non-refundable application fee of K12, 000.00 for Malawian candidates and US$25 for international applicants should be sent to the same address and not to any constituent college of the University of Malawi. Applicants should attach a deposit slip as proof of payment of an appropriate application Fee.

Step 1: Accessing the Application Portal Link

Access the online application link as listed in the advert. Ensure that the page is secure before you proceed

Step 2: Signup

–Signup by clicking the orange signup button at the bottom of the page. If you cannot see the button, your browser could be having a zoom in the setting. Zoom out holding down the “CTRL Button and pressing “+ Button on PC and “CMD and “+ on Mac

–A password (six-digit number) will be sent to your mobile number and your email address.

NOTE: Sometimes depending on your Mobile Telecom service provider, the message may delay or not be delivered. In this case, don’t panic, simply check your email. The same information is sent to your email as well.

–Log in using this password and your email address or your mobile number by selecting the “login with Tel No Option

–After Logging in, you will be prompted to change the password to the one you can remember. Password should have at least a length of six Characters

–The system will take you back to the login prompt to now log in with your new password

Step 3 Filling a Form

After Logging in, click on the “APPLY NOW Button to view the advertised Schemes Read the instructions carefully of each of the schemes you want to apply for

Fill in the application form accordingly. To submit there is the minimum information that must be captured. If you don’t have this information ready, simply save the form and return it later to complete it when you have all the information required to submit the application form

APPLICATION PACKAGE

A complete application package must include the following:

a.Copies of all relevant degrees/Diplomas/certificates/academic transcripts that have been indicated on the application form. These must be duly certified as true copies of the originals by a recognized Commissioner of Oaths.

b.Original proof of availability of funds for training i.e. official sponsorship letter or bank statements of the applicant.

c.Copy of a bank deposit slip showing the name of the applicant and the amount of application fee paid.

d.Curriculum vitae (CV) with names and contact details of three traceable referees.

e.A clear specification of a programme applied for as well as the candidate’s preferred mode of its delivery.
